About the Role
The Workforce Development Officer will support the development, training and engagement of employees across the organisation. Reporting to the Head of Operations, the post holder will coordinate and deliver staff inductions, support training programmes, maintain learning records and provide general workforce development support.
The role also includes a small element of HR administration, offering an excellent opportunity for an organised and motivated individual looking to develop a career in workforce development and human resources. The successful candidate will be given the opportunity to undertake relevant training to support their professional development. Please note that this role is a hybrid position – 3 days in Guildford office & 2 days working from home.

Desirable Attributes:
Previous experience in a training, learning and development, administration or HR-related role.
Experience delivering presentations, inductions or training sessions.
Basic knowledge of HR processes and employment-related documentation.
The successful candidate will receive support to undertake relevant training, including some HR, Training the Trainer and Learning & Development courses, with the aim of supporting the development of specialist knowledge.
Key Responsibilities
Training & Workforce Development
- Coordinate and administer the organisation’s training programmes.
- Deliver new starter inductions and onboarding sessions.
- Schedule internal and external training courses.
- Maintain accurate training records and compliance databases.
- Monitor mandatory training requirements and issue reminders.
- Support managers in identifying training and development needs.
- Assist in the creation and updating of training materials and resources.
- Evaluate training effectiveness through feedback and reporting.
- Development of a volunteering database.
- Promote a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
Employee Induction & Onboarding
- Manage the induction process for all new employees.
- Ensure new starters receive appropriate information, training and support.
- Liaise with managers to coordinate onboarding requirements.
- Maintain induction records and documentation.
HR Administration (Approx. 20%)
- Support HR processes through general administrative duties.
- Maintain employee records and ensure documentation is accurate and up to date.
- Assist with recruitment administration including interview scheduling and candidate communications.
- Support managers with absence monitoring and reporting processes.
- Prepare correspondence, reports and workforce-related documentation.
- Ensure compliance with GDPR and confidentiality requirements.
General Administration
- Organise meetings, training events and development workshops.
- Produce reports and management information relating to workforce development activities.
- Maintain systems and databases.
