We are a Forum to serve the area of Waveney, Suffolk and surrounding areas and have been working as a forum for 40 years. We provide information, advice and training for the relief of emotional distress and suffering and the preservation and protection of mental and physical health of those who are, or who have been exposed to domestic violence and abuse. First established in 1981 we have been working continuously to support individuals and the community.
We actively support adults who are coming to terms with the impact of abuse experienced as adults and during childhood. Trauma Therapy was identified early on as being an integrated part of the service we proved to help clients to recover from the impact and legacy of abuse to re-build their lives.
Our aim is to advance education of the public, organisations and agencies in all aspects of domestic abuse. We are a Forum with bi-monthly meetings to share information with more than 140 members to achieve these aims. We organise visits and meeting to schools and colleges to speak with young people in order to promote healthy relationship to try and prevent the cycle of abuse perpetuating. We work in close partnership with other agencies, identifying path of recovery for survivors which frequently includes referrals to other agencies for interventions and support in which they specialise.
