Juno Women’s Aid pet project finds foster homes for women’s animals when fleeing domestic abuse. Women can be going into refuge, sofa surfing, in a hostel etc.
Having a pet can be a barrier to women leaving an abusive relationship, as the abuser will often threaten to hurt or kill the animal if the women leaves. Most refuges and hostels have a no animal policy.
The project will try to accommodate any animal as long as there is a carer free.
