This training is suitable for whole teams or individuals. Those wishing to join as an individual may need to wait until we have sufficient numbers to run a session.
A look at what is meant by a phrase at risk of becoming a cliché. The purpose and application of a trauma-informed response in practice, and the benefits and barriers to this approach.
Exploring recent research on the theoretical perspectives to explain domestic abuse and why it happens, and the considerations for daily practice.
We look at the definition of evidence-based and best practice, and discuss how to ensure your knowledge stays current.
What is reflective practice, what is the evidence for its effectiveness, and how can it improve daily practice?
How to hear and support experiences that are considered taboo in our society and therefore difficult to talk about. A look at how to honour such experience whilst also safeguarding the victim and ourselves.
The final section of this training discusses the concept of the wounded healer, and the importance of reflecting on past trauma to ensure unresolved issues are not projected to others in the workplace. We also discuss the importance of self-care. Personal disclosures are discouraged, instead we explore hypothetical experiences connected to the human experience.
To provide delegates with new perspectives to think about and explore, continuing their development as practitioners, including an awareness and understanding of trauma-informed responses, the theories that can be used to explain domestic abuse, the benefits of evidence-based and reflective practice, opening dialogue around taboo wounds, and understanding the self as a wounded healer.
