The incredibly talented Vicky Hiscock sent in her stunning photography to mark #WorldPhotographyDay.
Vicky had been in an abusive relationship, she found photography to be an escape from the stresses of being a single parent to her young child and the legal process that followed her leaving.
“After finally ending a violent and extremely toxic relationship, I was relieved to have my independence back, but at the same time realised I had lost my identity along the way. My brother had lent me his DSLR camera to take to a wildlife park and I just fell in love. I booked myself onto a beginner’s photography course and the rest is history! I’m now just about to complete my level 3, I have won local and national competitions and have even had one of my photos praised by Chris Packham! Photography gave me something to focus on (pun intended) whilst I was dealing with court cases and financial struggles. Just taking the camera out for a few hours to a local park or woodlands is such good therapy. It gives me time to clear my head and get away from the craziness of single parenthood!”
