NCDV hails wake up film by leading UK comparative international law academic Dr Amy Kellam and multi award-winning US film-maker Shane Rock Nelson.
The film’s central purpose is to identify and call out coercive behaviour which causes widespread domestic misery and which is strongly correlated with domestic violence fatalities. To that end the film features a cameo appearance by the world authority on coercive behaviour, Professor Evan Stark. He terms domestic abuse of this kind, which has only recently been legally defined, ‘a form of domestic terrorism’.
NCDV chief executive Mark Groves says the resulting film is an extraordinary and deeply felt wake-up call against the pernicious effects of coercive control. He concluded: “We are honoured and proud to be associated with such a compelling and important piece of work.”
